Administrative Population Edits and Notes:
(1) Several parroquias listed in the population data were not in the boundary data. For some of these units, point coordinates were found, and their populations added to the spatial unit in which they fall. For other Parroquias where no point coordinates are found, populations were allocated proportionally among all Parroquias within the appropriate Cantones. (2) The following Cantones do not have population available at the Parroquia, thus the Parroquia polygons were merged at the Cantones level: Arenillas in El Oro; Patate in Tungurahua; and Galapagos Islands (3) Provincia level growth rate between census years 1990 and 2001 used to project to target years. When necessary, a 5% growth rate cap was applied to selected units.
