Report of the Third Meeting of the Ozone Research Managers

CROATIA

S. Vidic
Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia

At present there are three independent ozone related monitoring and research programmes in Croatia held by three institutes:

1. Within the programme of the Rudjer Boskovic Institute, surface ozone measurements began in the mid seventies in Zagreb and at several coastal sites, with a duration of measurements of 1-3 years. Continuous measurements of tropospheric ozone started in 1 989 at the Croatian EMEP station Puntijarka (988m a.s.l.) within the EUROTRAC/TOR project. Data are available through TOR and EMEP ozone data bases.

2. The Institute of Medical Research and Occupational Medicine operates surface ozone measurements in urban areas. At present there are two sites operating in Zagreb since 1995.

3. The third programme is the national research and monitoring programme held by the Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia, at present in the phase of preparation The first step within this programme is to set up three sites for tropospheric ozone measurements: one at the newly planned EMEP station Bihogora, one at the GAW WMO and EMEP station Zanzan (at 1,600m a.s.l.) and one at the coastal MED POL station Zadar.
