Building More Effective Linkages

IRS (Indian Remote Sensing Satellite)

Flown aboard Indian Remote Sensing Satellite.

Applications: agriculture; water resources; forestry; ecology; geology; water sheds; marine fisheries; coastal management.

The LISS instrument (Linear Imaging Self Scanner) collects data in the blue, green, red, and near infrared parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. On the latest instrument, blue was replaced by shortwave infrared. Also, during the history of the sensor, the pixel size has become smaller, going from 72.5 m to 23 m (with shortwave infrared at 70 m on the latest instrument). The most recent instrument also has a 5 m panchromatic band as well.
